„The Only Constant is Change“
Taking a freelance role was always a calculated risk, and I embraced it because of my eagerness to learn. Now, as the year winds down, I find myself seeking new teams to support as an Agile Team Coach.
This year, I significantly deepened my expertise in lean – agile practices as well as organizational development and systems thinking. Navigating through a complex transformation in a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. Unfortunately, the organization decided not to extend freelancer contracts (budget cuts) — a sensible move to prioritize in-house capacity, though no additional headcount was added. I was supposed to be there for one year minimum, this is why I said yes. But –> Some events are beyond our control, particularly in today’s complex world.
Heartwarmingly, the teams I worked with were not involved in this decision and did everything they could to keep me, which was incredibly validating and reaffirmed the connections we built.
During this time, I successfully ramped up three teams, greatly enhancing my ability to support them in their formative stages. I guided teams in refining their workflows, principles, and meeting cultures according to the agile values and what they REALLY need.
I supported them with more effective Scrum events and designed and facilitated onsite workshops such as team kickoffs, team-building exercises, and process optimization. In a regulated environment, I had to deal with team sizes way bigger than recommended and including external companies or stakeholders from the business who are part of a team. I actively contributed to Communities of Practice for Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing company wide.
I particularly valued the ongoing dialogue between team-level operations and the organization through the Agile Coaches, which allowed me to provide meaningful input at the organizational level. Working together with the other Agile Coaches and ScrumMaster was amazing, as the exchanges here always sparked my brain.
I am seeking a long-term or permanent role while remaining open to freelance opportunities to support teams during critical phases.
Additionally, I welcome opportunities to contribute pro bono to organizations with meaningful causes. My CV is current, and I plan to continue sharing insights here. I’am always eager to exchange ideas and discussions in workshops or Meet-Ups. Just drop me a message and we can set up a call.
In the meantime, I’m focusing on “clearing” my mind through mindfulness practices. Discovering Dr. Katrin Neefs’ Mindfulness—Self-Compassion books, exercises, and podcasts a few years ago has been a game-changer for building resilience. Coupled with my cherished biking trips, these practices have become essential to maintaining balance and clarity.
And Music! A new „Sharing Means Caring Mixtape“ is already in the pipeline, you can listen here to the last one:
And hopefully some DJ-Gigs, listen back to this great Jungle/Bass/Drum&Bass Mix, the recording of my set at a wonderful party in Brandenburg:
